At last, they share their wedding day!
For nearly two years this couple have endured being apart as Ivan finished his tour of duty in the military. They finally celebrated their wedding, a renewal of vows, with close friends and family at the Grand Holiday Ballroom in Olympia.
They were happy to include as their ringbear, their son Matt…and 7 month old Bella made her presence known throughout the ceremony creating smiles and giggles.
The ceremony was special as it included their love story and blessings for the children.
Guests flew in from all over the country, including Hawaii, Texas, Maryland and other states. This couple looks forward to a bright future and wish to set a good example for their children. Ivan has his eyes set on politics…so, maybe we’ll all be seeing move of him later on. Best wishes to this happy couple!
Tonight I performed a lovely wedding for Lucas and Janet at the Grand Holiday Ballroom in Olympia. It seems their love story was one of those wonderful “love at first sight” happenings.
Lucas, it seems, was a confirmed bachelor, according to his family and friends. But when Lucas and Janet met at a business conference, the force of love took over the agenda. And, because there was business to do, there was little time to become acquainted.
They parted the meeting and continued the conversation by way of texting, e-mailing and phone calls, since a mountain and many miles came between them. In month two, they had their first date…in month two, marriage entered their conversation. So now, almost a year later, this couple begins their life together. Congratulations to Lucas and Janet…and happy honeymooning!
It was a fun story to tell and I wish them both the best in their new life together. Happy honeymooning you two!
Last night I met with a lovely couple, Janet and Lucas, whose wedding is scheduled for early spring. They are having their ceremony at the Grand Holiday Ballroom in Olympia, one of my favorite venues. I’m so happy that they have consented to filling out a questionnaire from which I will write their love story and include it in the ceremony.
Guests love to hear love stories! It takes them to that place inside where they recall their own love stories. Over the next month we will collaborate on creating the perfect ceremony for this charming couple. It will be a great wedding!

Wedding season traditionally begins in May and ends in October…but the planning for weddings is underway. Already I am booking weddings for this coming season. It seems that this year is off to a much stronger start compared to last year. With that said, it’s a great idea to begin selecting your Celebrant now as there are only so many weddings a Wedding Officiant can handle in a day…or a weekend.
This year, I am the Mother of the Bride…and won’t be performing my daughter’s ceremony. It is an exciting time for us…and yesterday my daughter and I, along with my other daughter and her fiance’s mother attended the Wedding Expo in Seattle. We found the perfect dress and she looked beautiful! She has her venue booked and has contacted an officiant about performing her ceremony. The venue she selected is The Grand Holiday Ballroom in Olympia. I performed a wedding there last year and the set up is wonderful. The chapel is darling and the lower level will house the reception. They have an in-house DJ, bar and Caterer, although they are flexible about using an outside Caterer. The set up includes all the tables, chairs, linens and tableware. They even have containers for flowers and silk flowers available. It makes it much easier for my daughter to focus on some of the other details of her wedding. I’ll be updating our progress in her wedding as the year moves along…what fun!
